Well this will probably be my last post till maybe Christmas night so I thought it would be best to go ahead and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.
When I was talking to my friend Carrie the other night she brought up how Christmas has become to commercialized, and I agree. However, if you think about it Christmas has been very commercial for some time. What do you think A Charlie Brown Christmas is about? It's basically about how the real reason of Christmas has been lost. Christmas is about the birth of Jesus Christ our lord and savior. You know the one who was born in a manger, that in most nativity scenes seems to always get stolen.
Their use to be the saying Jesus is the reason for the season. Now in our politically correct world, people would be like you pushing one religion over another. If you really think about it that is why Christmas has become too comercialized. People don't want to shut out people from other religions from celebrating this day.
The way the decided to package the holiday so that a broader audience for Television would enjoy it was taking the tale of Saint Nick, sorry I would spell it right but it's spelled a bit different. They expanded on this tale, that was true by the way, but made it into something more so that people who aren't of the Christian faith could grab hold of this holiday. I mean the original message of Santa Claus was good, he went to the houses of poor children and gave them shoes if I remember correctly or maybe it was money. It's been a while but the point is he gave a gift that to us would seem small, but to those children it meant a lot.
Today people go pushing and shoving and acting angry just to get all these things for people. That is not the point of this holiday. I think we all need to take a step back look our lives, and the world. Breathe in and remember the true reason and meaning of the Christmas holiday is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and praise him for giving his life on the cross for all of our sins.
We should show our friends and family that we love and care for them, but not by buying the most expensive or the hottest new things that our out but by letting them know we care and are grateful for them being in our lives each and every day.
And now on that note I shall say Merry Christmas everyone, and have a very safe and joyous weekend. Amen.
