Yes, I went and paid to see The Condemned today. I thought it was a good movie. Who really cares what reviewers say. If you want action you aren't going for the best scripts , Vince McMahon although needs to stop putting his words and ideas in thse movie, or a meaningful message. If you want to see people beating each other up to death then this is the movie for you.
I liked the action and enjoyed it very much and you could see that this movie took elements from other movies. But that's ok, I go to movies to escape from this crazy world, not to get all crazy and disect movies like a vast majority of the people I went to college with would do. I don't get how you can enjoy the movie if you take little peices of it of apart and analyze them.
If you go into a movie thinking it's going to be crap, most likely it's going to be crap. If you go into a movie thinking it's going to be the best thing since slice bread, it's probably going to end up being crap. You need to go into a movie with the mindset of my life sucks and I want to escape into a whole new world for an hour and half or so and kick back.
One thing that I disliked about the movie was the abuse against women in this film. Yes it has a point, but this just oozes of Vince McMahon's doing. Yes I understand criminal tend to rape women and abuse them but with one of the guys who isn't even one of the criminals starts hitting up and degrading his supposed woman it's over kill.
Also since it seems that WWE films get a bad wrap, best thing to do would to not call it WWE films and use part of the old title of the company Titan and Call your film division Titan Entertainment. That way maybe the films would be given a bit of a better chance.
Steve Austin is a good actor. I remember seeing him in a few episodes of Nash Bridges and he was very good. He plays a rough and tough loveable badass very well. I do know he played a complete asshole badass in Adam Sandler's remake of The Longest Yard. Didn't really see but a little bit of his part in that movie so I can't really make too much of comment about that. But I enjoy Steve Austin as and actor or a wrestler. When it comes to hard hitting action there is nobody better bottom line.
