Spring Homes Tour

Well it's that time of year around the Kansas City Metropolitan Area, it's the Spring Homes Tour. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's where they have a bunch of new homes and you can look through them. Some of the houses are furnished some are unfurnished. I always love going into new houses because they are always really different than the house I live in.

Well yesterday I went out, by myself might I add, to a few of the houses near my neighborhood. The ones over in Lakewood are the same homes that have been for the past couple of times including the Fall Homes Tour.

Now for the first time I went over to the neigbhorhood near TMC Lakewood called Summit Woods. Which is in Kansas City, but realistically it's in Lee's Summit, but anyhow. I only went to one of the houses cause they were doing construction near the other two houses. but the one I did go in I really liked. One of the big reasons I liked it was they didn't furnish the house for like a family with little kids they actually furnished it, at least the other bedrooms for like an older kid or young adult. The extras bedrooms besides the master bedroom weren't cramped like a lot of the new houses I've seen. They were actually fairly nice sized and roomy. One thing bad about one of the rumors they had this akward space with a door that had some sort of plumbing or something and it seemed sort of out of place and as waste in the room. I wonder why that wasn't located in like the unfinished part of the basement. Overall so far this was the house I liked the best, although the yard wasn't very big and you seemd really close to your neighbors.

Then the final neighborhood I went to was Timber Hills. All of those houses were ok, but they weren't anything to jump up and down for. Maybe that's just because I'm not a homeowner so I don't really know the ends and outs of houses, but I just didn't care for them. Plus you could really hear the highway, which is not a good thing. In one of the houses there was just this space in the upstairs that could have been used for some sort of a room or closet but no it was just a big space. I didn't really understand that. It had a bunch of plug ins in that area but no phone jack or anything so it seemed like dead space to me. But the houses looked fairly nice, but they wouldn't be a house I'd like living in really.

I tired to find houses 700-701 but I couldn't. I think they were a little farther from my neighborhood than I thought. When looking at the map they looked close but I guess they aren't. hopefully I'll get to see some more today. The Homes Tour ends May 8th and if you are interested in find out more about it go to KCSpringHomesTour.com
